Back from wedding-land
Well, I've been embarrassed about how out of date things are around here, so I decided to do something about it.
First, a note of explanation. I dun' got hitched last month! So art has been on the back burner.
Second, another note of explanation. I'm doing Craftland this year, so most of my energies are focused on that.
But there's exciting creative doin's around the Lesiak/Macri (now Macri/Macri) household. MPP and I are teaming up for a small new crafty business venture called Modern Manifesto. For now we're working on things like purses, pillows, pins, magnets, and frame-ready vintage ads.
Aside from that, we're working on getting involved at the new printshop at AS220. I'm always ready to experiment with new media, and screenprinting is next on my list. I've fiddled around with it a bit with a woefully jury-rigged setup in the basement, but am ready to take it up to the next level.
I got such great feedback from the show (except for the person that wrote FART in sharpie on my quilt..but that's a story for another time when I'm feeling more ornery). Anyway as much as I love the romance of spending many hundreds of hours on a piece, that's just not really a viable way of making a living. I want to make work that's beautiful AND affordable.
So, heads up for a store where you'll be able to purchase prints and some other goodies. And our regular feature, "Artists I Heart", will be back very soon.
In the meantime, I have the best of intentions to update a little more. Right now I am working on my laptop in the studio. I've never thought to bring it up here before, and I must admit, it seems a little magical to have the interweb up here.
