A joy to be odd
So usually I'm not a big poetry fan, I much prefer prose. However, I came across some vintage poetry about crocheting that I feel I should share because really, it's just too precious. Picture it being read by a whitehaired octagenerian, and you'll see what I mean.
Never Even - A Joy to be Odd
(From CROCHET Volume 19. No date, my best guess is the 60's.)
I take some moments from each day
To ply the steel hook at CROCHET (inexplicable caps)
The hook moves on, the single line
Of thread turns into a design
I find it quite constructive fun,
But when the whole design is done
It always seems to be the rule
To have thread left upon the spool.
Another pattern I then do,
But that spool's bare before I'm through!
And thus another spool is bought,
Another crochet pattern wrought
Is there a chance a pattern may
End even with the spool someday.
